Vacation at The Greenbriar Resort

Finally! Our Vacation for the year has arrived. This was a last minute decision made on the road to West Virginia. Chris mentioned The Greenbriar Resort (White Sulphur Springs, WV) and knew that I would like this place. He’s had friends go there and enjoyed their stay. When we arrived, I was in awe! This place is gorgeous, not to mentioned the polite/helpful staff. We were able to do everything at the resort. We hiked, I ran the beautiful golf course, watched a movie at the theatre, indoor poolside was available, extravagant restaurants (which required a dress code), took advantage of the spa, bowling, shopping, relaxed outside, tea time, casino/gambling, and more!

I couldn’t stop taking pictures. This place is amazing! Rest? Definately! We will be returning… hopefully soon!

Here is a little history of the place:

The Greenbrier is an award-winning resort. As a National Historic landmark, The Greenbrier’s classic architecture, exquisite interior design (by designer: Dorothy Draper), sculpted landscape, impeccable service and outstanding amenities have hosted distinguished guests from around the world since 1778. This grand dame of hospitality has welcomed kings and queens, presidents and politicians, luminaries and celebrities from all corners of the globe. During the Cold War, The Greenbrier was home to a secret “bunker” intended to house Congress in the event of an attack. This renowned property offers 721 rooms, including 33 suites and 96 guest and estate houses. Also the PGA Golf 2010 (July) will be held here.

This restaurant was named after the Designer "Dorothy Draper". As you can see in the pictures above was designed by her.

Meet Laura and Joe! They are getting married October 23rd, 2010 and I am so excited to photograph their wedding!

My Sister in Law’s (Tracy) artwork/media art was accepted at the Old Court House Arts Center in Woodstock, IL. It is a suburb outside of Chicago. Women’s Work 2010 embraces and showcases the creativity of women artists from across the nation. I was invited and had a great time! There were many talented and amazing artist at the show. It was definately hard to pick my favorite art.

Congratulations, Tracy! I am so proud of you! Your work is beautiful!

Before Tracy’s Art Show, we spent some time downtown Chicago and Lincoln Park! Although the weather was bad (raining and cold), we managed to walk around, shop and eat great restaurants! My most favorite Restaurant is the Chicago Diner (Vegan/Vegetarian) located in Lincoln Park. The Food was amazing!!

Ohio Backroad Day Trip

Today me and Chris decided to take a backroad day trip on Route 73 and 52 in Ohio. We definately got lost! However, I was able to get some beautiful shots with my Polaroid Colorpack Land Camera using Polaroid 125i Studio SILK film. I KNOW I am now addicted to this camera!

Indiana Backroad Day Trip

Before I took portrait/wedding photography seriously, my sister in law- Tracy and I would take mass pictures of anything back in 2006. We would plan backroad day trips on the weekends getting lost. We would find amazing barns, beautiful landscapes and abandoned buildings.

Tracy moved back from California 6 months ago and we haven’t taken a day trip for a couple years now due to our busy schedule and the fact that she lived far away. Now that she is closer, we planned on getting lost in the countryside again! This time with our Polaroid/Film Camera! No digitals allowed! I just bought the Polaroid Land Camera Super Colopack and The Big Shot Polaroid. Both are awesome and takes excellent photos!

The results were rewarding! Not only did I have a fun time, I appreciated photography more using instant film and loved it! It was definately a challenge! I enjoy and miss the simplicity of film.

Planning our next day trip very soon!!!
